We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for us to provide legal services, comply with our legal obligations, and conduct our business activities. The types of personal information we may collect from you include:

  • Information about your legal matter, including sensitive information such as health, financial, or criminal history details, where relevant to the services we provide.

  • Identification documents (e.g., driver’s licence, passport) for verification purposes.

  • Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and operating system, which may be collected automatically by our web server for operational purposes.

We may also collect personal information from third parties where required, including from government entities or other parties involved in your legal matter.

4.      To whom we disclose your information

Subject to our duties of confidentiality, and consistently with our professional duties to you, we may disclose your personal information to

  • Third parties who will provide services to you

  • Authorised employees and agents of Yanner Mann Dobson Law

  • Credit reporting agencies if required

  • Courts, tribunals and other agencies and authorities as require in connection with the services we provide to you

  • Third parties that collect and process data

  • Digital platforms, including those that use Artificial Intelligence but only where those platforms handle our law practice data subject to strict privacy and data controls.

We will not provide your information to third parties for marketing purposes without your express consent.

5.      How we hold the information we collect from you

As a law practice, Yanner Mann Dobson Law is subject to strict duties of client confidentiality and in certain cases, legal professional privilege.  We will observe our duties to you in this regard in accordance with the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 and the Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules 2015.

We maintain strict security protocols to protect all information held in digital form.  We only use digital services suitable for the storage of client information including encrypted cloud-based secure systems with two-factor authentication, and restrictions on data use to ensure no data can be used in any training any large language model or other artificial intelligence.  We use Artificial Intelligence tools that are tailored to law practices with strict data security and with controls to ensure no data from our law practice can be used to train any large language model or other artificial intelligence.  We observe all appropriate cybersecurity protocols to protect your information.  All servers on which we hold personal information are located in Australia and we will not transfer your personal information to another jurisdiction without your consent.

Any information held in hard copy form is securely stored in and outside our office.

6.      How you can access and correct your personal information

You can ask to access your personal information by writing to Yanner Mann Dobson Law at the address below.  If you believe the information we hold about you is incorrect, you can seek correction by written request. 

7.      Deletion of personal information

We hold personal information subject to the record-keeping requirements of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2014 and the Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules 2015. You may request deletion of your personal information but our compliance with that request is subject to our regulatory requirements to maintain certain records.

8.      Unsubscribing or changing your permission

You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by following the links in our email or by contacting Yanner Mann Dobson Law at the address below.  If you gave us consent to use your information for direct marketing purposes, you can withdraw your consent at any time.
