Conveyancer

Duties and responsibilities

  • Document preparation: Preparing and reviewing contracts of sale, conducting property searches and title checks, handling conveyancing settlements using PEXA and SRO Duties Online.

  • Advice:  Reviewing contracts of sale, providing unbiased, proactive advice and recommendations grounded in real-world experience. Offering clients clear explanations of the legal process and guidance to reassure them throughout the transaction.

  • File Management: Open, organize and maintain client files to ensure information is meticulously filed, tasks are proactively managed and diarised, deadlines are met and the principal lawyer is kept up to date.

  • Undertaking a range of administrative processes including database maintenance, weekly reports and invoicing.

  • Monitoring, and managing emails and calls in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner, as well as drafting responses where necessary.

  • Onboarding New Clients: Facilitate the onboarding process, making it seamless for new clients to engage with our services, including processing of intake forms and necessary appropriate disclosures. 

  • Flexibility and Autonomy: Adapt to varying tasks with minimal direction, effectively prioritizing and managing your workload.

  • Problem-Solving: Take ownership of challenges, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness in finding solutions and addressing administrative duties as they arise.  

  • Any other tasks as may be reasonably requested.

About you

  • Experience working in a law firm or conveyancing practice.

  • Formal qualification such as Advanced Diploma of Conveyancing or similar, welcome but not essential.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, anticipate the needs of others and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Computer savvy with competency in Microsoft 365 and legal matter management software Leap, Smokeball or similar is desirable.

  • Quick to adapt and become proficient in systems and processes.

  • An excellent communicator - with strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, and exercise initiative and judgement.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion for both clients and the firm.

  • Willing to contribute to the development of systems and processes in a growing firm.

  • Contribute to a harmonious workplace and build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
